FAQ
How long does a custom piece take?
Most custom engagement rings and wedding bands take 4–8 weeks from design approval to finished piece. Particularly intricate settings or sourcing a specific stone can add 2–4 weeks. I give you a realistic timeline at the consultation — and I keep to it.
How much does a custom engagement ring cost?
Custom engagement rings start from DKK 15,000 and typically range between DKK 25,000–90,000, depending on the stone, metal, and complexity of the setting. Wedding bands start from DKK 8,000 per ring. I work across a range of budgets and will always be transparent about the full cost before you commit. Customers outside the EU have Danish VAT (25%) deducted — your effective price is approximately 20% lower.
Can I bring my own stones or gold?
Yes. Heirloom redesign — transforming inherited jewellery into something new — is one of the things I love most about this work. You can bring stones, old rings, or any gold you would like to reuse. I assess the material at the consultation and incorporate it wherever possible. Heirloom commissions start from DKK 6,000.
Do you offer consultations outside of shop hours?
Yes. If opening hours do not work for you, I am happy to arrange an appointment at another time — just email me. I also offer video consultations for clients outside Copenhagen.
What deposit do you require?
A 50% deposit is required when we confirm the commission. The remaining 50% is due on collection or before shipping. For heirloom redesigns, the deposit is 40%.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship worldwide with full insurance. Customers outside the EU have Danish VAT (25%) deducted, making the effective cost approximately 20% lower. Import duties may apply. See our Shipping & Duties page for a breakdown by market.
Can I resize a ring later?
Yes. All rings made in our workshop can be resized. Resizing within 6 months of purchase is complimentary; after that, a small fee applies. Some styles (full eternity bands, certain platinum settings) cannot be resized — I will tell you at the consultation if this applies.
What makes Facon Facon different from a high-street jeweller?
Every piece is designed by me and made by hand in our Copenhagen atelier. When you commission a piece, you work directly with the goldsmith — not a sales team. I have been making jewellery in this workshop for over 25 years. The result is a piece that is genuinely one of a kind, built to last, and carries a story worth telling.
